Overview
This engaging half-day course will help employees understand how their actions contribute to fire safety in the workplace. The topics covered in the course include common causes of fire, the safe use of firefighting equipment, and actions to take when a fire is discovered. We will also introduce employer and employee responsibilities under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
The course involves guided activities and discussions led by our experienced Health & Safety Trainer. Learning will be assessed throughout the course and there will be a Q&A session where attendees can raise role specific questions. This course is the perfect accompaniment to an ‘on the job’ induction and assessment process.
This introductory level course is perfect for employees without specific duties for Fire Safety, who want to understand their general responsibilities and act confidently and safely in the event of a fire.
Employees who hold specific duties (such as those designated as a Duty Holder or Responsible Person) should consider our Managing Fire Safety at Work course, which will better suit their needs.
By actively participating in this course, you will learn how to:
Identify the causes of fire and explain how fire spreads.
Classify fire types and identify the most suitable fire extinguisher to use.
Explain the actions to take upon discovering a fire.
Describe your employers’ responsibilities for fire safety in the workplace, including the provision of suitable signage, documentation, and training.
Identify your own responsibilities for fire safety and feel empowered to raise concerns.
If you are attending through our Virtual Classroom, you will need a laptop or PC with Microsoft Teams installed. All course materials and activity sheets will be sent electronically before the course.
If you are attending this course in our Training Centre or Onsite at your workplace, you do not need to bring anything with you except for a notepad and pen. All course materials will be provided by the trainer.
